Here are the products the Cool Stuff Company sells. The current Price of each product is 100% more than its production cost.

Decide what the discount will be on each item. Company policy is that you must make at least $5 profit on any item that costs less than $20 per unit to manufacture. You must make at least a $20 profit on any item that costs $20 or more per unit to manufacture. 1. Determine the production cost of each item.
Decide on three types of discounts for each item. Set up a spreadsheet like the one shown below.

Copy the Spreadsheet from Excel and Paste it into a Word Document.

1. Investigate the correlation between Major League Baseball Team Payrolls and games won. Complete the spreadsheet (MLB_Payroll) in your handout folder with regular season wins. You'll find the regular season data here.
2. Use the completed spreadsheet to create an Excel chart. Print your chart and hand draw a Line of Best Fit with a ruler.
3. In Excel add a "Trend Line" to your graph. (Click on a data point, and then go to the top menu "CHART"-->"ADD A TREND LINE". How does trend line compare with your hand drawn Line of Best Fit? Print the graph with the Excel Trend Line, Staple it to the other graph and turn them both in.
4. Use the applet at the bottom of this page and try to match your Line of Best Fit. What kind of correlation is there between MLB Team Payrolls and Season Wins?
5. If time, investigate the correlation between the Average Salaries of NFL teams in 2010 and regular season wins.
